Orders placed by 4 PM ET ship the same business day, shipping is free over $50, and every cartridge is covered by our 1-year 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Chip note: “With Chip” cartridges install like an original. “No Chip” cartridges cost less but need the chip moved over from your empty HP cartridge (instructions included). Either way, turn off automatic firmware updates so a future HP update can't block the cartridge.

HP 414A / 414X Toner: Common Questions

What is the difference between the HP 414A / 414X sizes?

414A prints about 2,400 pages black and 2,100 per color; 414X prints about 7,500 black and 6,000 per color. Both sizes fit the same printers, and HP's cartridges have the drum built in, so there is no separate drum to buy.

Which printers use HP 414A / 414X toner?

HP Color LaserJet Pro M454dn, M454dw, Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479dw, MFP M479fdn, MFP M479fdw. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Should I buy the “With Chip” or “No Chip” version?

“With Chip” installs like an original and is the right choice for most people. “No Chip” is cheaper but you must move the chip from your empty HP cartridge onto ours (it clips on; instructions are included). Either way, keep automatic firmware updates off. If a cartridge from us isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Standard or high-yield: which should I buy?

High-yield (the X or H version) in almost every case. It is the same cartridge body with more toner, so each printed page costs less. Standard-yield only makes sense if you print very little.
