Chips, Printer Messages & Installation

Installing: with the printer on, open the front or top cover and wait for the cartridge holder to stop. Push the old cartridge down (or lift the lock lever) and remove it. Take the protective tape off the new cartridge without touching the nozzles or contacts, slide it into the holder (black on the right, color on the left) and push up until it clicks. Close the cover.

Ink level messages: the printer may say the remaining ink level cannot be detected. Press and hold the Stop/Resume button for about 5 seconds to keep printing; the low-ink warning is turned off for that cartridge only.

Streaks or missing colors: run a nozzle check and cleaning from the printer's maintenance menu. The printhead is built into these cartridges, so if streaks remain after two cleanings the cartridge is the likely cause.

PG-50 holds the most ink, PG-40 is standard and PG-30 is the smallest. All three fit the same slot.
