• Fits the same printers: LC3039 is the ultra high-yield version (black about 6,000 pages) and can be used in place of LC3037.
• Does not fit: LC3017 / LC3019 (MFC-J5330DW, J6530DW, J6930DW), LC3033 / LC3035 (MFC-J995DW, J805DW) and LC3029 look similar but are not interchangeable.
• Newer Brother models MFC-J5855DW, J5955DW, J6555DW and J6955DW use LC406XL, not LC3037.

Chips, Printer Messages & Installation

Installing: open the ink cover on the front of the printer, press the lock release lever and pull out the empty cartridge. Remove the orange protective cap from the new cartridge without touching the chip, insert it into the matching color slot and push until it locks. Close the cover; the printer resets that color's ink level.

Printer messages: in March 2025 Brother publicly stated that its firmware updates do not block third-party ink. If a non-genuine supply notice appears, choose OK or Continue. If you see "Cannot Detect", remove the cartridge, check the cap is off and reseat it firmly.
