Chips, Printer Messages & Installation

Installing: open the front cover (on most models, lift the scanner or top cover first). Lift the drum and toner unit out, remove the empty toner, shake the new cartridge and remove its protective bar or seal. Set it into the drum unit, turn the blue locking levers if your model has them, and put the unit back.

Supply messages: if the fax still shows "Change toner" or "Toner low", open and close the cover once so it rechecks.

Streaks or faint print: the drum is a separate part. If streaks continue with fresh toner, the drum may be due.
