Don't mix these up: Canon 045H is the high-capacity version of Canon 045 (about 1,400 black / 1,300 color pages); both fit the same printers. It is not the same as Canon 046 (MF731/MF733/MF735) or Canon 054 (MF641/MF642/MF644).

Chips, Printer Messages & Installation

Installing: open the front cover (or toner drawer on color models), remove the empty cartridge, then rock the new one gently five or six times to spread the toner. Pull the sealing tape straight out, insert the cartridge until it locks and close the cover.

Messages: the printer may display a notice that a non-Canon cartridge is installed or that the remaining toner can't be shown. Confirm the message to keep printing. The imaging drum is built into this cartridge, so there is no separate drum to replace.

Streaks or faint print: rock the cartridge again and run the cleaning or fixing-unit cleaning routine from the printer's menu.

Compatible vs. Remanufactured vs. Original

Original (OEM) toner is new from the printer brand and costs the most. Compatible toner, like this cartridge, is newly manufactured by a third party to the original's size, chip and page-yield specifications, so it drops into the same slot at a much lower price. Remanufactured toner is an emptied original cartridge that has been rebuilt and refilled. Castle Ink sells compatible (newly manufactured) toner and remanufactured inkjet cartridges.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is in this pack?

Canon 045H Black (1246C001); Canon 045H Cyan (1245C001); Canon 045H Magenta (1244C001); Canon 045H Yellow (1243C001).

Is 045H the same as 045?

Same printers and slots. 045H holds about twice as much toner.

Can I replace one color at a time?

Yes. Each color is a separate cartridge.

Will this void my printer warranty?

No. Under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer can't void your printer warranty just because you used a third-party or remanufactured supply. If a non-original supply directly caused damage, that specific repair might not be covered.

How long can I store it?

Sealed toner keeps for about two years at room temperature. Keep it in its bag, away from heat and direct sunlight, and store it flat.

When will my order ship?

Orders placed by 4 PM ET, Monday through Friday, ship the same business day from Long Island, NY, by USPS (2–5 business days). Expedited 1–2 day delivery is available at checkout, and shipping is free on orders over $50.
