Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: open the top cover, slide out the drum unit and lift out the empty toner. Rock the new cartridge gently, remove the protective cover, and push it into the drum until it locks. Slide the corona wire tab back and forth a few times, then reinstall the drum and close the cover.
"Replace Toner" after a new cartridge: make sure the cartridge is fully clicked into the drum unit and the top cover is closed. The printer reads toner level with a sensor, so a seated cartridge clears the message.

Compatible vs. Remanufactured vs. Original
Original (OEM) toner is new from the printer brand and costs the most. Compatible toner, like this cartridge, is newly manufactured by a third party to the original's size, chip and page-yield specifications, so it drops into the same slot at a much lower price.
