Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: open the top cover, lift out the image drum with the toner cartridge attached and set it on paper. Turn the colored lever on the old toner cartridge to release it and lift it off the drum. Shake the new cartridge gently, peel off the tape on the underside, set it on the drum and turn the lever to lock it. Return the drum to the printer and close the cover.
Toner messages: if the printer keeps showing "toner empty" after the change, check that the lock lever is fully turned and the cover is closed firmly. A "non-genuine" notice can be cleared on the control panel to keep printing.
Light or streaky print: gently shake the cartridge to redistribute toner and wipe the LED head with a soft lint-free cloth. Faint vertical lines that stay after a new toner usually mean the drum is due for replacement.
