HP 27 / 28 Ink: Common Questions

What is the difference between HP 27 / 28 and HP 56 / 57?

HP 27 black (about 280 pages) and HP 28 tri-color (about 240 pages) are the standard cartridges for these printers. HP 56 black and HP 57 tri-color are the larger versions that fit the same slots in most of the same models, so you can mix them.

Which printers use HP 27 / 28 ink?

Single cartridges or the combo pack?

The 27 + 28 combo pack works out to about $14.00 per cartridge and is the better buy when both are running low. Buy a single when only black or only color is empty. The 27 MICR cartridge is magnetic ink for printing checks; for everyday documents the standard 27 black costs much less.
