HP 55A / 55X Toner: Common Questions

What is the difference between the HP 55A / 55X sizes?

55A prints about 6,000 pages and 55X about 12,500. Both fit the same printers, so 55X costs less per page. HP's cartridges have the drum built in, so there is no separate drum to buy.

Which printers use HP 55A / 55X toner?

HP LaserJet P3015, P3015d, P3015dn, P3015x, LaserJet Enterprise 500 MFP M525, LaserJet Pro MFP M521dn, MFP M521dw. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Will compatible HP 55A / 55X toner work in my printer?

Yes. Our cartridges are new, not refilled, and install like an original. Keep automatic firmware updates off so a future HP update can't block third-party toner. If a cartridge from us isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Standard or high-yield: which should I buy?

High-yield (the X or H version) in almost every case. It is the same cartridge body with more toner, so each printed page costs less. Standard-yield only makes sense if you print very little.
