HP 746 Ink: Common Questions

Does HP 746 come in more than one size?

No. HP 746 is sold only as a 300 ml cartridge. The Z9+ also uses HP 747 for its gray, chromatic blue and gloss enhancer slots, which are separate cartridges.

Which printers use HP 746 ink?

HP DesignJet Z6 24-in, Z6 44-in, Z6dr 44-in, Z9+ 24-in, Z9+ 44-in and Z9+dr 44-in. HP 746 is not the same as HP 745 (DesignJet Z2600/Z5600). Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Will remanufactured HP 746 cartridges work in my DesignJet?

Yes. Each cartridge is a genuine HP 746 shell with its original chip, cleaned, refilled and print-tested, so it installs like an original. The printer shows a notice when a refilled cartridge is installed; confirm it on the front panel to keep printing. Printheads are replaced separately. If a cartridge from us isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Single cartridges or the 6-pack?

The 6-pack (matte black, photo black, cyan, magenta, yellow and chromatic red) works out to about $100.99 per cartridge against $105.99 for singles, so buy it when you are replacing a full set. Buy a single when only one color runs out; each color is its own cartridge.
