HP 80A / 80X Toner: Common Questions

What is the difference between the HP 80A / 80X sizes?

80A prints about 2,700 pages and 80X about 6,900. Both fit the same printers, so 80X costs less per page. HP's cartridges have the drum built in, so there is no separate drum to buy.

Which printers use HP 80A / 80X toner?

HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401a, M401d, M401dn, M401dne, M401dw, M401n, LaserJet Pro 400 MFP M425dn, MFP M425dw. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Will compatible HP 80A / 80X toner work in my printer?

Yes. Our cartridges are new, not refilled, and install like an original. Keep automatic firmware updates off so a future HP update can't block third-party toner. If a cartridge from us isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Standard or high-yield: which should I buy?

High-yield (the X or H version) in almost every case. It is the same cartridge body with more toner, so each printed page costs less. Standard-yield only makes sense if you print very little.
