Chips, Printer Messages & Installation

Installing: open the printer cover and remove the empty toner cartridge (on most of these models it comes out together with the drum, then separates from it). Rock the new cartridge gently side to side, remove its protective cover and seal, seat it in place until it locks and close the cover.

"Replace Toner" after a new cartridge: make sure the cartridge is fully seated and the cover is closed. These printers read toner level with a sensor, so a firmly seated cartridge clears the message.

Toner vs. drum: this is the toner only. The drum is a separate part that lasts through several toner cartridges.
