Installation & Troubleshooting

Installing: open the ink compartment cover (press the release lever on models that have one) and pull out the empty cartridge. Gently shake the new cartridge for a few seconds, insert it into the slot that matches its color with the label facing out, and push until it seats. Close the cover; the printer checks the cartridge before it resumes.

Ink level and messages: the printer reads the chip on each tank. If it asks you to confirm a non-genuine or refilled tank, accept the prompt to continue; the ink level indicator keeps working as normal.

Banding or missing colors: run a nozzle check and a head cleaning from the printer's maintenance menu before replacing any parts.
