Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: open the ink cartridge drawer or door for the color you are replacing, lift out the empty cartridge and gently shake the new one before sliding it into the matching slot until it seats. Close the door; the printer checks the cartridge and updates the ink level.
Non-HP supply messages: PageWide XL printers show a notice when a refilled or non-HP cartridge is installed. Confirm the message on the front panel to keep printing. If a cartridge is not detected, reseat it and make sure the chip contacts are clean.
Printheads are separate: PageWide XL printheads stay in the printer and are replaced on their own schedule. If a color looks weak after a new cartridge, run the printhead check and cleaning from the front panel.

How long can I store it?
