Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: open the ink cover on the meter and wait for the carriage to move to the access position. Lift the latch, remove the old cartridge, pull the tape off the new one without touching the nozzles or contacts, seat it and close the latch and cover.
After installing: the meter primes the new cartridge and may ask you to print a test pattern. Follow the prompt and check that the indicia prints cleanly.
Faint or broken indicia: run the print head cleaning or purge from the meter's menu, then print a test pattern again. USPS requires a clean, readable indicia.

Compatible vs. Original Meter Ink
Original (OEM) Pitney Bowes cartridges are new from Pitney Bowes and cost the most. Compatible cartridges, like this one, are newly manufactured by a third party with fluorescent red ink made for postage meters, so they fit the same slot at a lower price. Is this USPS-approved meter ink?
Fluorescent red is the ink color USPS requires for postage indicia. Use it only in the meters listed so the indicia prints and scans correctly.
Will this void my printer warranty?
No. Under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer can't void your printer warranty just because you used a third-party or remanufactured supply. If a non-original supply directly caused damage, that specific repair might not be covered.
How long can I store it?
Store it sealed, at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, and use it within about 24 months for best results. Once opened, install it promptly.
