Chips, Printer Messages & Installation

Installing: open the front cover, pull out the empty cartridge by its handle, then rock the new cartridge gently side to side five or six times to spread the toner. Remove the protective tape or sheet, slide the cartridge in until it locks and close the cover.

Supply messages: if the printer shows a "non-genuine toner" or "replace toner" notice right after installing, press OK or Continue, or power the printer off and on once.

Streaks or faint print: rock the cartridge again and print a cleaning page from the printer menu. The imaging drum is built into these cartridges, so a new cartridge also renews the drum.

Original (OEM) toner is new from the printer brand and costs the most.
