What does "10.1000 Supply error" (or 10.1001, 10.1002, 10.1003) mean?
The printer cannot read a cartridge's memory chip. The last digit is the color: 0 black, 1 cyan, 2 magenta, 3 yellow. Check the chip for damage, reseat the cartridge and power-cycle. If the error follows the cartridge when you swap slots, the cartridge is at fault; if it stays with the slot, the printer is.
It says paper jam but nothing is stuck. Why?
On a printer this age it is usually a worn Tray 2 pickup roller, sometimes the separation roller, so the sheet arrives late. Replacing the roller is the common fix, according to HP Community threads.
Can I keep printing after "Replace supplies"?
Yes. In System setup > Print quality > Replace supplies, choose Override out. A notice stays on screen until a new cartridge goes in, and HP warns print quality may drop.
Why do I see a faint repeat of the image lower on the page?
Ghosting about 56 mm below the image points to the transfer belt or the cartridge drum rather than the fuser. Try a fresh cartridge in the affected color first, since the drum is part of the cartridge.
