HP 508A / 508X Toner: Common Questions

What is the difference between the HP 508A / 508X sizes?

508A prints about 6,000 pages black and 5,000 per color; 508X prints about 12,500 black and 9,500 per color. Both sizes fit the same printers, and HP's cartridges have the drum built in, so there is no separate drum to buy.

Which printers use HP 508A / 508X toner?

HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M552dn, M553dn, M553n, M553x, MFP M577dn, MFP M577f, MFP M577z. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Will compatible HP 508A / 508X toner work in my printer?

Yes. Our cartridges are new, not refilled, and install like an original. Keep automatic firmware updates off so a future HP update can't block third-party toner. If a cartridge from us isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Standard or high-yield: which should I buy?

High-yield (the X or H version) in almost every case. It is the same cartridge body with more toner, so each printed page costs less. Standard-yield only makes sense if you print very little.
