Collection: HP 970 & 971 Ink Cartridges – 970XL & 971XL

Castle Ink sells remanufactured HP 970 / 971 ink cartridges in every size HP makes: 970XL black (CN625AM), 971XL cyan (CN626AM), magenta (CN627AM) and yellow (CN628AM), a 970XL/971XL 4-pack, and a 970XL black MICR cartridge for check printing. The XL cartridges replace the standard HP 970 and 971 in the same slots. They fit the HP OfficeJet Pro X451dn, X451dw, X476dn, X476dw, X551dw and X576dw. Each cartridge is a remanufactured original HP shell, refilled and tested in the U.S. Orders placed by 4 PM ET ship the same business day, shipping is free over $50, and every cartridge is covered by our 1-year 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Firmware note: keep automatic firmware updates turned off on your printer so a future update can't block third-party cartridges. If the printer shows a “non-genuine ink” message, choose Continue or OK; printing is not blocked. Printing checks? Choose the MICR black version.

HP 970 / 971 Ink: Common Questions

What is the difference between the standard and XL HP 970 / 971 cartridges?

HP 970 black prints about 3,000 pages and each 971 color about 2,500; 970XL black prints about 9,200 pages and each 971XL color about 6,600. They share the same cartridge body and slot, so you can move between sizes freely.

Which printers use HP 970 / 971 ink?

HP OfficeJet Pro X451dn, X451dw, X476dn, X476dw, X551dw, X576dw. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Will remanufactured HP 970 / 971 cartridges work in my printer?

Yes. These printers predate HP+ and HP's cartridge-blocking firmware, so a remanufactured cartridge installs and prints like an original. If the printer shows a non-genuine-ink message, choose OK or Continue. If a cartridge from us still isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Standard or XL: which should I buy?

XL in almost every case. The XL cartridges are the same physical size and fit the same slot, but hold more ink, so each printed page costs less. Standard cartridges only make sense if you print very rarely, since ink can dry out over long idle periods.
