Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: open the cartridge door on the front of the printer, press the empty cartridge in to release it and pull it straight out. Slide the new cartridge in with the label up until it locks, then close the door. The printer recognizes the cartridge and updates its ink level.
Non-HP supply messages: the printer may report a used or non-HP cartridge. Confirm on the control panel to keep printing. If the cartridge is not detected, reseat it and check the chip contacts are clean.
Firmware updates: HP firmware updates have been known to block non-HP chips. Turn off automatic updates in the printer's settings or HP Smart before you install, and see how to keep HP firmware updates from blocking your ink.
