Installation & Troubleshooting
Installing refill rolls: open the machine, lift out the cartridge frame and remove the used roll and the empty take-up core. Seat the new supply roll and feed the film onto the take-up spool with the ink side facing the paper, then turn the gear until the film is taut with no wrinkles before closing the cover. A loose or creased film causes blank or streaked pages.
Faint or patchy print: make sure the ribbon is seated in front of the print head and the take-up knob has been turned to remove slack. If print stays faint after a fresh ribbon, the print head may need cleaning.
Compatible (Newly Manufactured) vs. Original
Original (OEM) supplies are new from the printer brand and cost the most. Compatible supplies, like this one, are newly manufactured by a third party to fit and print like the original at a lower price. Castle Ink sells remanufactured inkjet cartridges and compatible (newly manufactured) toner, drums, ribbons and fax film.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many pages does the PC-202RF print?
About 450 pages per roll, based on the manufacturer rating for the original PC-202RF. Fax machines advance the film at the same rate whatever is printed, so light and dense pages use about the same amount.
Which machines use the Brother PC-202RF?
Brother IntelliFAX 1170, Brother IntelliFAX 1270, Brother IntelliFAX 1270e, Brother IntelliFAX 1570MC, Brother IntelliFAX 1575MC, Brother MFC-1770, Brother MFC-1780, Brother MFC-1870MC and 1 more (full list above).
Do I need the cartridge to use these rolls?
Yes. These are bare film rolls that load into the PC-201 cartridge frame you already have. Keep the frame when the old roll runs out.
Is this a toner cartridge?
No. These machines print with a thermal-transfer film ribbon, not powder toner, even though it is often searched for as "fax toner".
Will this void my fax machine warranty?
No. Under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer can't void your warranty just because you used a third-party supply.
When will my order ship?
Orders placed by 4 PM ET, Monday through Friday, ship the same business day from Long Island, NY, by USPS (2–5 business days). Expedited 1–2 day delivery is available at checkout, and shipping is free on orders over $50.
