Don't mix these up: CLI-42 is only for the PIXMA PRO-100/PRO-100S. The PIXMA PRO-10 (PGI-72) and PRO-1 (PGI-29) use different pigment tanks, and everyday PIXMA printers use CLI-251 or CLI-281.

Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: with the printer on, open the top cover and wait for the print head holder to move to the replacement position. Press the tab on the empty tank and lift it out, remove the orange cap from the new tank, then press the new tank down into the slot with the matching color label until it clicks. The lamp on the tank lights when it is seated correctly.
Ink level messages: the printer may say the remaining ink level cannot be detected. Press and hold the Stop/Resume button for about 5 seconds to continue; the ink level warning is disabled for that tank only.
Streaks or missing colors: run a nozzle check and cleaning from the printer's maintenance menu or Canon software. If one color is still missing after two cleanings, run a deep cleaning once and let the printer rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to replace all colors at once?
No. Each color is a separate tank, so replace only the one the printer reports as empty.
How many tanks does the PIXMA PRO-100 use?
Eight: black, cyan, magenta, yellow, photo cyan, photo magenta, gray and light gray. All eight must be installed to print.
Why does the PRO-100 use gray and light gray?
The gray inks give smoother black-and-white prints and more neutral skin tones than mixing gray from color.
Will this void my printer warranty?
No. Under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer can't void your printer warranty just because you used a third-party or remanufactured supply. If a non-original supply directly caused damage, that specific repair might not be covered.
How long can I store it?
Store it sealed, at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, and use it within about 24 months for best results. Once opened, install it promptly.
