Don't mix these up: Photo black is not the same as the regular HP 564XL black (CN684WN / CB321WN) used for text. Five-ink Photosmart printers need both. HP 564 is also not interchangeable with HP 920.

Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: with the printer on, open the ink access door and wait for the carriage to stop. Press the front of the old cartridge to release it, unwrap the new one and push it into the slot with the matching color until it clicks. Close the door and let the printer finish its startup routine before printing.
Ink level messages: the printer may show a "used" or "non-HP" cartridge notice, or an ink gauge that reads low. Press OK to continue and judge by print quality, not the gauge.
Printhead is separate: HP 564 printers use a separate printhead, so if a color stays faded after a new cartridge, run Clean Printhead from the Tools menu, and see how to clean print heads.

Does my printer need photo black?
Only five-ink HP Photosmart models (for example the 6520, 7520, C310, C410 and B8550) have a photo black slot. Four-ink models like the DeskJet 3520, OfficeJet 4620, Photosmart 5520 and Photosmart B110 don't.
Is CR277WN the same as CB322WN?
Yes. Both are the HP 564XL photo black; CR277WN is the retail-pack number.
Can the printer print without photo black?
Most five-ink Photosmart printers need every slot filled before they will print, so replace an empty photo black even if you mostly print documents.
Will this void my printer warranty?
No. Under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer can't void your printer warranty just because you used a third-party or remanufactured supply. If a non-original supply directly caused damage, that specific repair might not be covered.
How long can I store it?
