Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: open the ink access door and wait for the carriage to stop. Press down on the old cartridge to release it, take the new one out of its bag and pull off the protective tape by its tab, without touching the copper contacts or the nozzles. Slide it into its slot at a slight upward angle until it clicks, then close the door.
Ink level messages: remanufactured HP cartridges reuse the original HP chip, so the printer may show a "used" or "non-HP" cartridge notice, or an ink gauge that reads low or "?". Press OK to continue and judge by print quality, not the gauge.
Printhead built in: the printhead is part of this cartridge, so if prints are streaky run Clean Printhead from the printer's Tools menu or HP Smart. Two cleaning cycles usually clear it.
