About Canon PGI-1200 Ink Cartridges – 1200 & 1200XL for MAXIFY

Castle Ink sells remanufactured Canon PGI-1200XL pigment ink cartridges in every color: black (9183B001), cyan (9196B001), magenta (9197B001) and yellow (9198B001), plus a black-and-color 4-pack. The XL cartridges replace the standard PGI-1200 (9219B001–9234B001) in the same slots and hold roughly three times the ink. They fit the Canon MAXIFY MB2020, MB2120, MB2320 and MB2720. Each cartridge is a remanufactured original shell, refilled and tested in the U.S. Orders placed by 4 PM ET ship the same business day, shipping is free over $50, and every cartridge is covered by our 1-year 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Canon note: a “the following ink cartridge cannot be recognized” message usually clears by pressing and holding the Stop/Resume button for about 5 seconds; a “non-genuine ink” warning is informational and the printer keeps printing. Keep automatic firmware updates off (why that matters).

Canon PGI-1200 Ink: Common Questions

What is the difference between PGI-1200 and PGI-1200XL?

Canon rates the standard PGI-1200 black at about 400 pages and each color at about 300; the PGI-1200XL black is rated at about 1,200 pages and each XL color at about 900. Same cartridge body, same slot.

Which printers use Canon PGI-1200 ink?

Canon MAXIFY MB2020, MB2120, MB2320 and MB2720. The larger MAXIFY MB5020/MB5320/iB4020 use PGI-2200 instead. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Is MAXIFY ink pigment-based?

Yes. All four PGI-1200 colors are pigment inks, which is why MAXIFY documents are water- and highlighter-resistant. Our refills use pigment ink matched to Canon's.

Will remanufactured cartridges void my printer warranty?

No. Under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, Canon cannot void your printer warranty just because you used third-party ink or toner. If a cartridge from us ever isn't recognized or prints poorly, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.
