Epson 542 Ink Bottles: Common Questions

How many pages does a set of Epson 542 bottles print?

A 542 black bottle prints about 6,000 pages and each 542 color bottle about 6,000, so a 4-pack is roughly a year of ink for most small offices.

Which printers use Epson 542 ink bottles?

Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5150, ET-5170, ET-5180, ET-5800, ET-5850, ET-5880, ET-15000, ET-16600, WorkForce ST-C8000, ST-C8090. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Will compatible Epson 542 bottles work in my EcoTank?

Yes. EcoTank bottles have no chip, so the printer cannot tell compatible ink from Epson ink; the bottle nozzle is keyed so it only fits the matching tank. Fill until the tank reaches the upper line, and if a bottle from us ever causes a problem, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Do I need to replace all four bottles at once?

No. Each tank is filled separately, so buy the color that is low. Black usually runs out first on home printers, which is why we sell it singly as well as in the 4-pack.
