Don't mix these up: HP 831 fits the Latex 300 series and Latex 570. It is not the same as HP 792 (Latex 210/260/280) or HP 789 (DesignJet L25500). The Latex 570 also accepts the larger HP 871 3-liter cartridges.

Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: open the ink cartridge drawer or door for the color you are replacing, lift out the empty cartridge and gently shake the new one before sliding it into the matching slot until it seats. Close the drawer and wait for the printer to read the cartridge.
Non-HP supply messages: the printer may show a notice that a refilled or non-HP cartridge is installed. Confirm it on the front panel to keep printing. If a cartridge is not detected, reseat it and check that the chip contacts are clean and dry.
Printheads are separate: printheads on these printers are replaced on their own schedule, not with each ink cartridge. If a color drops out after a new cartridge, run the printhead check and cleaning from the front panel.

No. Each color is a separate cartridge, so replace only the one the printer reports as empty.

Does it include a printhead or optimizer?
No. Latex 300-series printheads and the HP 831 Latex Optimizer are sold separately.
Will this void my printer warranty?
