What Ink Does the Brother MFC-J4410DW Use?

Quick answer: The Brother MFC-J4410DW uses four separate cartridges: black, cyan, magenta and yellow. You can use high-yield LC103, or super high-yield LC107 black with LC105 colors. Castle Ink stocks remanufactured LC107 Black, LC105 Cyan, Magenta and Yellow, a super high-yield 4-pack, plus LC103 singles and a 4-pack.

LC103 also fits the MFC-J470DW, MFC-J450DW, MFC-J870DW and DCP-J152W. Those printers take standard LC101 too, but Brother doesn't list LC101 for the J4410DW. Don't confuse it with the MFC-J4420DW, which takes LC201/LC203. The UK and European MFC-J4410DW uses LC123, LC125XL and LC127XL cartridges, which won't fit a U.S. model.

Discontinued. Brother Canada lists the MFC-J4410DW as discontinued, and Brother hasn't named a replacement. The next model in the line, the MFC-J4420DW, takes different ink. Staples still sells LC103 and LC105 cartridges, though the LC107 black was out of stock.

LC105 Cyan / Magenta / Yellow (super high yield) LC105C / LC105M / LC105Y ~1,200 pages each Cyan, Magenta, Yellow

Yields are Brother's ISO figures. There's no LC105 black and no LC107 color: the super high-yield set is LC107 black plus LC105 cyan, magenta and yellow. Some of our listings call these cartridges LC103XL and LC107XXL or LC105XXL. Brother's part numbers are LC103, LC107 and LC105.

Is LC107 / LC105 Worth It Over LC103?

Yes. The super high-yield cartridges print about 1,200 pages each, twice as many as LC103. On October 17, 2026, Staples listed Brother's LC103 black at $34.49 (about 5.7¢ a page) and the LC107 black at $32.99 (about 2.7¢ a page), but the LC107 was out of stock, as it was at Brother's store for $30.49. Staples had the LC103 cyan at $16.99 and the LC105 color three-pack at $64.29. Our remanufactured LC107 black and LC105 colors are $8.99 each (under 1¢ a page), and LC103 cartridges are $7.99 each (about 1.3¢ a page). Both 4-packs are $30.99, so the super high-yield 4-pack gets you twice the pages for the same price.

How Do I Replace the Ink in the Brother MFC-J4410DW?

  1. With the machine on, open the ink cartridge cover on the front right. The touchscreen shows which color is low.
  2. Press the lock-release lever for that color and take out the empty cartridge.
  3. Unpack the new LC103 or LC107/LC105 cartridge without shaking it, and remove the orange protective cap.
  4. Insert the cartridge in the direction of the arrow on the label, matching the color slot.
  5. Push the back of the cartridge gently until it clicks, then close the cover. The machine resets the ink counter.

Which Other Printers Use LC103, LC105 and LC107?

Brother lists LC103 for the DCP-J152W, MFC-J245, MFC-J285DW, MFC-J4310DW, MFC-J450DW, MFC-J4510DW, MFC-J4610DW, MFC-J470DW, MFC-J4710DW, MFC-J475DW, MFC-J650DW, MFC-J6520DW, MFC-J6720DW, MFC-J6920DW, MFC-J870DW and MFC-J875DW. The super high-yield LC107 black and LC105 colors fit the MFC-J4310DW, MFC-J4510DW, MFC-J4610DW and MFC-J4710DW. The LC105 colors also fit the MFC-J6520DW, MFC-J6720DW and MFC-J6920DW.

What MFC-J4410DW owners ask

These are the questions that come up most for this printer in Brother support pages, Trusted Reviews and iFixit, answered in our words.

Does it take LC101 standard cartridges?

Brother doesn't list it. The consumables table in the J4410DW user's guide shows only LC103 and LC107/LC105, and Brother's LC101 page leaves this printer off.

Brother's product page mentions 203-series cartridges. Does it take LC203?

No. LC203 belongs to the MFC-J4420DW. Brother's own user's guide for the J4410DW lists only LC103 and LC107/LC105, so we read the 203 mention as an error on the page.

Can it print 11 x 17?

Yes, one sheet at a time through the rear manual feed slot. The main tray holds up to legal size. Trusted Reviews found the rear slot fiddly, so set the paper size before you print.

It says 'Ink Absorber Full.'

The waste-ink box is full from head cleanings. Brother service replaces the absorber and resets the counter, and iFixit has a teardown guide for doing it yourself. On an older unit the repair often costs more than it's worth.

MFC-J4410DW quirks worth knowing

  • Brother rates it at 18 ISO pages a minute in black and 16 in color. Trusted Reviews measured 12.2 pages a minute at best in black.
  • It feeds paper sideways, which keeps the body small for a printer that handles 11 x 17. The front tray holds 150 sheets.
  • It's loud. Trusted Reviews measured 75 dBA as the paper ripples before each page. Quiet Mode in the settings helps, at the cost of speed.
  • The U.S. model connects over Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Ethernet or USB, with a 1.8-inch color touchscreen, SD and Memory Stick Duo slots and a USB flash port. Trusted Reviews also noted poor color copies and misfeeds with photo paper.
