Standard vs XL vs XXL: Which Canon 240 Should I Buy?
If you print more than a handful of pages a month, go XL or XXL. The PG-240XXL holds more than twice the ink of the standard PG-240 for a much lower cost per page. The standard sizes make sense only if the printer sits unused for long stretches, when ink can dry out before you use it up.
How Do I Replace the Ink Cartridges in My Canon PIXMA MG3620?
- Turn the printer on. Open the front cover and the paper output tray, then open the paper output cover. The head cover opens and the cartridge holder moves to the replacement position. You don't lift the scanner on this model.
- Push the old cartridge down until it clicks, then lift it out.
- Remove the new cartridge from its bag and peel off the protective tape. Don't touch the gold contacts or the nozzles.
- Insert it at a slight angle into its slot (color on the left, black on the right) and push it up until it clicks into place.
- Close the cover. The printer runs a short initialization.

Yes. Canon lists the PG-240, PG-240XL and PG-240XXL black, plus the CL-241 and CL-241XL color, for the MG3620. The XXL is rated for about 600 pages, more than three times the standard PG-240.
Why does the color cartridge go down when I only print black?
Canon's manual says the MG3620 uses some color ink even for black-and-white printing, and both cartridges are used during head cleaning. That is normal for this printer.
There's no screen. How do I know which cartridge is the problem?
The printer shows ink errors by flashing the ink lamp and the Alarm lamp. Count the flashes and look the number up in Canon's online manual for the MG3600 series.
Does it print two-sided automatically?
