The Expression Home XP-340 is a compact wireless all-in-one for home printing, scanning and copying. It uses four individual Epson 288 cartridges.
Do not confuse Epson 288 with Epson 220, which fits the older XP-320 and XP-420. They are not interchangeable.

How to Replace the Ink in the Epson Expression Home XP-340
- Turn the printer on and lift the scanner unit. The cartridge holder moves to the replacement position.
- Shake the new cartridge gently four or five times, then unwrap it and remove the yellow tape (do not touch the green chip).
- Squeeze the tab on the empty cartridge and lift it straight out.
- Press the new cartridge down into its matching color slot until it clicks.
- Lower the scanner unit and press the start or OK button if the screen asks. The printer charges the ink for a minute or two.
Troubleshooting Tips
"Ink cartridge cannot be recognized": Lift the scanner, press the cartridge down until it clicks, and check that the yellow tape is fully removed. If it still is not recognized, remove and reinstall all the cartridges, then restart the printer.
Streaks or missing lines: Run a nozzle check and head cleaning from the printer's Maintenance or Setup menu. Epson printheads are permanent, so cleaning is worth trying two or three times, letting the printer rest a few minutes between cycles.
Firmware updates: Some Epson firmware updates have blocked third-party cartridges. Turn off automatic firmware updates in the printer's settings or Epson Connect, and see printer firmware updates and third-party ink.
