Firmware note: keep automatic firmware updates turned off on your printer so a future update can't block third-party cartridges. If the printer shows a “non-genuine ink” message, choose Continue or OK; printing is not blocked. Printing checks? Choose the MICR black version.

HP 56 / 57 Ink: Common Questions

Is there a high-yield version of HP 56 and 57?

HP 56 black prints about 450 pages and HP 57 tri-color about 500. HP did not make an XL version of either; the HP 58 photo cartridge swaps into the black slot for six-ink photo printing on the Photosmart models.

Which printers use HP 56 / 57 ink?

HP DeskJet 450, 5150, 5550, 5650, 5850, 9650, OfficeJet 4110, 5510, 5610, 6110, Photosmart 7150, 7260, 7350, 7450, 7550, 7660, 7760, 7960, PSC 1210, 1315, 1350, 2110, 2210, 2410, 2510. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Will remanufactured HP 56 / 57 cartridges work in my printer?

Yes. These printers predate HP+ and HP's cartridge-blocking firmware, so a remanufactured cartridge installs and prints like an original. If the printer shows a non-genuine-ink message, choose OK or Continue. If a cartridge from us still isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Singles or the combo pack: which should I buy?

The combo pack if both cartridges are low, since it costs less than two singles. Black usually runs out first, so most people buy a 56 black on its own in between.
