HP 83A / 83X Toner: Common Questions

What is the difference between the HP 83A / 83X sizes?

83A prints about 1,500 pages and 83X about 2,200 (the jumbo about 3,000). All fit the same printers, so the higher-yield cartridges cost less per page. HP's cartridges have the drum built in, so there is no separate drum to buy.

Which printers use HP 83A / 83X toner?

Standard or high-yield: which should I buy?

High-yield (the X or H version) in almost every case. It is the same cartridge body with more toner, so each printed page costs less. Standard-yield only makes sense if you print very little.
