HP+ note: if your printer is enrolled in HP+ (common on models ending in “e”), it only accepts Original HP ink, and no third-party cartridge will work in it. If it is not enrolled, our cartridges work; turn off automatic firmware updates first (here's how). Printing checks? Choose the MICR black version.

Where a cartridge is offered with an "OEM Chip" and a "New Chip" version, the OEM-chip version reuses an original HP chip and is the safer choice on printers with current firmware.

HP 902 Ink: Common Questions

What is the difference between the standard and XL HP 902 cartridges?

HP 902 black prints about 300 pages and each 902 color about 315; 902XL black and each 902XL color print about 825. They share the same cartridge body and slot, so you can move between sizes freely.

Which printers use HP 902 ink?

HP OfficeJet 6950, OfficeJet 6954, OfficeJet 6958, OfficeJet 6962, OfficeJet Pro 6960, OfficeJet Pro 6968, OfficeJet Pro 6970, OfficeJet Pro 6975, OfficeJet Pro 6978. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Will remanufactured HP 902 cartridges work in my printer?

Yes, as long as the printer is not enrolled in HP+. HP+ printers only accept Original HP ink. On printers that are not enrolled, keep automatic firmware updates off so a future update can't block third-party cartridges. If a cartridge from us still isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Standard or XL: which should I buy?

XL in almost every case. The XL cartridges are the same physical size and fit the same slot, but hold more ink, so each printed page costs less. Standard cartridges only make sense if you print very rarely, since ink can dry out over long idle periods.
