HP+ note: if your printer is enrolled in HP+ (common on models ending in “e”), it only accepts Original HP ink, and no third-party cartridge will work in it. If it is not enrolled, our cartridges work; turn off automatic firmware updates first (here's how). Printing checks? Choose the MICR black version.

HP 950/951 Ink: Common Questions

What is the difference between the standard and XL HP 950/951 cartridges?

HP 950 black prints about 1,000 pages and each 951 color about 700; 950XL black prints about 2,300 pages and each 951XL color about 1,500. They share the same cartridge body and slot, so you can move between sizes freely.

Which printers use HP 950/951 ink?

HP OfficeJet Pro 8600, OfficeJet Pro 8610, OfficeJet Pro 8615, OfficeJet Pro 8620, OfficeJet Pro 8625, OfficeJet Pro 8630, OfficeJet Pro 8640, OfficeJet Pro 8660, OfficeJet Pro 8715, OfficeJet Pro 251dw, OfficeJet Pro 276dw, OfficeJet Pro 8100. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Will remanufactured HP 950/951 cartridges work in my printer?

Yes, as long as the printer is not enrolled in HP+. HP+ printers only accept Original HP ink. On printers that are not enrolled, keep automatic firmware updates off so a future update can't block third-party cartridges. If a cartridge from us still isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Standard or XL: which should I buy?

XL in almost every case. The XL cartridges are the same physical size and fit the same slot, but hold more ink, so each printed page costs less. Standard cartridges only make sense if you print very rarely, since ink can dry out over long idle periods.
