Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: with the printer on, open the ink cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to stop. Press the front of the old cartridge to release it, unwrap the new one and push it into the slot with the matching color until it clicks. Close the door and let the printer finish its startup routine before printing.
Ink level messages: the printer may show a "used" or "non-HP" cartridge notice, or an ink gauge that reads low. Press OK to continue and judge by print quality, not the gauge.
Firmware updates: HP firmware updates have been known to block non-HP chips. Turn off automatic updates in the printer's settings or HP Smart before you install, and see how to keep HP firmware updates from blocking your ink.
Printhead is separate: HP 934/935 printers have a printhead built into the printer, so if a color stays faded after a new cartridge, run Clean Printhead from the Tools menu or HP Smart.
