Last Updated:Quick answer: The HP ENVY 120 e-All-in-One uses two HP 60 cartridges: one black and one tri-color. The high-yield HP 60XL versions fit too. Castle Ink stocks remanufactured 60XL Black, 60XL Tri-color and a 60XL 2-pack.
It takes the same ink as the ENVY 100 and 110 and older models like the DeskJet F4480 and Photosmart C4680. The European ENVY 120 takes HP 300 cartridges, which won't fit a U.S. printer. HP's July 2026 changes to HP 61 and HP 63/65 don't affect HP 60.

The 60XL black prints three times as many pages as the standard 60. Buy the WN versions; the European HP 300 cartridges look similar but won't work.
Is HP 60XL Worth It?
Yes, but HP's own XL cartridges are expensive. On October 15, 2026, Staples listed HP's 60XL black at $83.99 (about 14¢ a page), the standard 60 black at $32.99 and the 60 tri-color at $42.99. HP's 60XL tri-color was $82.99 on an out-of-stock Walmart listing. Our remanufactured 60XL black is $20.95 (about 3.5¢ a page) and the 60XL tri-color $23.95, or $43.95 for the 2-pack.
How Do I Replace the Ink in the HP ENVY 120?
- With the printer on, open the cartridge access door. Wait for the carriage to slide into view.
- Press down on the old cartridge to release it, then pull it out. Tri-color goes on the left, black on the right.
- Unpack the new cartridge and pull off the protective tape over the nozzles.
- Slide the cartridge into its slot at a slight upward angle until it snaps into place.
- Close the door and follow the touchscreen prompt to print and scan the alignment page.
