Will Compatible Toner Work?

Yes. MLT-D105 cartridges carry a small chip that counts pages, and compatible cartridges come with their own chip. We know of no firmware update for the SCX-4623F that blocks compatible MLT-D105 cartridges. If the printer shows "Install Toner" after a swap, take the cartridge out, check that all tape and packing are off, and reseat it firmly; if the message stays, the chip is the likely cause and the seller should replace the cartridge.

How Do I Replace the Toner in the SCX-4623F?

  1. Open the front cover of the printer.
  2. Pull the old toner cartridge straight out by its handle.
  3. Unpack the new MLT-D105 cartridge and remove any protective paper or tape.
  4. Rock it gently side to side five or six times to spread the toner; do not touch the green drum surface.
  5. Hold it by the handle and slide it into the printer until it locks into place.
  6. Close the front cover; the printer warms up and returns to Ready.

No. The MLT-D105 is a one-piece toner-and-drum cartridge, so each new cartridge also brings a new drum.

Who supports Samsung printers now?

HP. Samsung sold its printer business to HP, and Samsung's own support pages send owners to HP for drivers, downloads and help. On very old units, HP's site may not recognize the serial number, as one owner on HP's community found; the drivers are still listed by model.

The document feeder keeps jamming. What can I do?

Clean the feeder rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with water and let them dry, then check the paper path for scraps by running a piece of stiff card through it.
