Brother TN229 Toner: Common Questions

What is the difference between the Brother TN229 sizes?

TN229 prints about 1,500 pages black and 1,200 per color; TN229XL about 3,000 black and 2,300 per color; TN229XXL about 4,500 black and 4,000 per color. TN227 (the previous generation) prints about 3,000 black and 2,300 per color. TN229 and TN227 are not interchangeable, so match the number to your printer model.

Which printers use Brother TN229 toner?

Will compatible Brother TN229 toner work in my printer?

High-yield (the X or H version) in almost every case. It is the same cartridge body with more toner, so each printed page costs less. Standard-yield only makes sense if you print very little.
