What's in the Box
- 1 × HP 962XL Black (3JA03AN) remanufactured ink cartridge — about 2,000 pages
Page yields are the manufacturer's rating for the matching original cartridge, measured at roughly 5% page coverage. Your results will vary with what you print.
Important — HP+ note: The "e" models (9015e, 9018e and 9025e) are HP+ printers. Once HP+ is activated at setup they accept only Original HP cartridges, so these cartridges are not sold for them.
Compatible Printers (10 models)
- HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 / 9012 / 9014 / 9015 / 9016 / 9018 / 9019
- HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 / 9022 / 9025
Don't mix these up: HP 962XL is the high-yield version of HP 962 and fits the same slots. It is not the same as HP 952 (OfficeJet Pro 8710/8720) or HP 902.

Chips, Printer Messages & Installation
Installing: with the printer on, open the ink access door and wait for the carriage to stop. Remove the empty cartridge, unwrap the new one, pull off any protective tape without touching the copper contacts, and push it into the matching slot until it clicks. Close the door and let the printer finish its startup routine.
Ink level messages: the printer may show a "used" or "non-HP" cartridge notice, or an ink gauge that reads low or "?". Press OK to continue and judge by print quality, not the gauge.
Firmware updates: HP firmware updates have been known to block non-HP chips. Turn off automatic updates in the printer's settings or HP Smart before you install, and see how to keep HP firmware updates from blocking your ink.

Remanufactured vs. Compatible vs. Original
Original (OEM) cartridges are new from the printer brand and cost the most. Remanufactured cartridges, like this one, start as genuine original shells (including the original chip) that are cleaned, refilled with high-quality ink and print-tested, so they fit and communicate like the original at a fraction of the price. Compatible cartridges are built new by a third party with their own chip. Castle Ink sells remanufactured inkjet cartridges and compatible (newly manufactured) toner.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many pages does the HP 962XL black print?
About 2,000 pages, based on HP's rating for the original 3JA03AN at roughly 5% coverage.
Can I replace one color at a time?
Yes. Each color is a separate cartridge, so replace only the one that is empty.
Will this void my printer warranty?
No. Under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer can't void your printer warranty just because you used a third-party or remanufactured supply. If a non-original supply directly caused damage, that specific repair might not be covered.
How long can I store it?
Store it sealed, at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, and use it within about 24 months for best results. Once opened, install it promptly.
When will my order ship?
Orders placed by 4 PM ET, Monday through Friday, ship the same business day from Long Island, NY, by USPS (2–5 business days). Expedited 1–2 day delivery is available at checkout, and shipping is free on orders over $50.
