What Ink Does the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 Use?
Last Updated:Quick answer: The HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 uses HP 962 or high-yield HP 962XL ink: 962XL Black (3JA03AN, about 2,000 pages) and 962XL Cyan, Magenta and Yellow (3JA00AN, 3JA01AN, 3JA02AN, about 1,600 pages each). The standard 962 Black (3HZ99AN) is rated at about 1,000 pages.
This is the non-e 9025, without HP+; HP has since replaced it with the 9025e, which adds HP+. It does not take HP 936, the cartridge for the newer OfficeJet Pro 9125e and 9135e. Castle Ink sells remanufactured 962XL cartridges in all four colors.

What Does 962XL Ink Cost?
On October 26, 2026, Walmart listed the Original HP 962XL Black at $63.92 and the magenta and yellow at $49.92 each, about 3.2¢ a page for black and 3.1¢ for each color. Our remanufactured 962XL Black is $39.95 and each color $35.95, or $67.99 for a four-pack with new chips.
Will Remanufactured 962XL Work in the 9025?
Yes, if it reuses an HP chip. HP says the 9025 uses dynamic security to block cartridges with a non-HP chip, accepts remanufactured or refilled cartridges with a reused HP chip, and that firmware updates may block cartridges that worked before. No HP firmware lets you turn dynamic security off; the "Cartridge Protection" setting is unrelated. Because the 9025 has no HP+, there's no lifetime Original-ink requirement. More in our guide to HP cartridge errors and dynamic security.

- Push the cartridge in to release it, then pull it out.
- Unpack the new cartridge, holding it by the black plastic, and remove the colored tape.
