HP 962 Ink: Common Questions

What is the difference between the standard and XL HP 962 cartridges?

HP 962 black prints about 1,000 pages and each 962 color about 700; 962XL black prints about 2,000 pages and each 962XL color about 1,600. They share the same cartridge body and slot, so you can move between sizes freely.

Which printers use HP 962 ink?

HP OfficeJet Pro 9010, OfficeJet Pro 9012, OfficeJet Pro 9015, OfficeJet Pro 9015e, OfficeJet Pro 9018, OfficeJet Pro 9018e, OfficeJet Pro 9020, OfficeJet Pro 9025, OfficeJet Pro 9025e. Our Find Ink by Printer page has a guide for each model.

Will remanufactured HP 962 cartridges work in my printer?

Yes, as long as the printer is not enrolled in HP+. HP+ printers only accept Original HP ink. On printers that are not enrolled, keep automatic firmware updates off so a future update can't block third-party cartridges. If a cartridge from us still isn't recognized, contact us and we'll replace or refund it under our 1-year guarantee.

Standard or XL: which should I buy?

XL in almost every case. The XL cartridges are the same physical size and fit the same slot, but hold more ink, so each printed page costs less. Standard cartridges only make sense if you print very rarely, since ink can dry out over long idle periods.
