What Ink Does the HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 Use?

Every model in the OfficeJet Pro 9020 series takes the same HP 962 cartridges: the 9020, 9022, 9025 and 9028, plus their "e" versions. So does the smaller OfficeJet Pro 9010 series, including the 9015 and 9018. The 9020 is the bigger sibling, with a second paper tray and faster speeds, but the ink is identical. HP 962 won't fit the OfficeJet Pro 8020/8030 series (HP 910) or the 6900 series (HP 902).

How to Replace Ink in the HP OfficeJet Pro 9020
- Turn the printer on and open the ink cartridge access door on the front. Wait for the carriage to move to the access position and stop.
- Press the front of the cartridge you're replacing to release it, then pull it straight out.
- Unwrap the new cartridge. Hold it by the sides and don't touch the copper contacts.
- Slide it into the slot that matches its color label and press until it clicks.
- Close the door. The printer may print an alignment page after a full set change.
Troubleshooting Tips
"Cartridge problem" or "incompatible cartridge": Reseat the cartridge. If the message stays, wipe the chip contacts with a lint-free cloth and reinstall it. Streaks or faded color: Run "Clean Printhead" from the printer's Tools menu or the HP Smart app. The 9020's printhead is a permanent part of the printer, so one or two cleaning cycles usually fix it. Ink draining faster than expected: Printhead cleaning and automatic servicing use ink. Leaving the printer on in sleep mode, instead of unplugging it, keeps servicing to a minimum.
