Correction (October 2026): an earlier version of this guide gave every CLI-281 tank the same page yield and called the PB tank "photo black". The dye black (BK) tank lasts far longer than the colors (about 750 pages standard), and PB is photo blue.

How to Replace Ink in the Canon PIXMA TS8320
- Turn on the printer and open the scanning unit/cover; the print head holder moves to the replacement position.
- Press the tab on the empty cartridge and lift it out of the print head.
- Remove the new cartridge from packaging and pull off the orange protective cap.
- Insert the new cartridge into the matching color slot and push down until it clicks.
- Close the scanning unit/cover. The printer runs an automatic print head cleaning at the start of the next job; let it finish.
Troubleshooting Tips
Cartridge not recognized: Remove the cartridge, wipe the gold contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, and reinsert firmly until it clicks.
Streaky or faded prints: Run the Print Head Cleaning utility from Maintenance settings on the printer's touchscreen.
Misaligned colors: Run Print Head Alignment using plain paper to restore sharp output.
Ink warnings with non-Canon tanks: Remanufactured or refilled tanks can show a warning and lose ink-level monitoring. Canon's manual says the printer can't print while an ink error is showing or with any tank missing, so keep a spare of the color you use most.

No. PB is photo blue, a sixth dye color for smoother photo tones. The two blacks are the PGI-280 pigment black for text and the CLI-281 BK dye black.
Only some colors print after I changed a tank. What should I check?
Canon's advice: make sure no tape is left on any tank, run a nozzle check, and do up to three cleanings. If colors are still missing, contact Canon support.
Can it scan a stack of pages or send a fax?
No. The TS8320 has a flatbed scanner only (up to 8.5 x 11.7 in) and no fax.
Does it print two-sided automatically?
Yes. It has a built-in duplexer for two-sided printing. Scanning is one side at a time.
Will it connect to 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
Yes. Canon lists Wi-Fi on both 2.4 and 5 GHz, plus Bluetooth and USB.
