What Ink Does the HP DeskJet 2132 Use?

Quick answer: The HP DeskJet 2132 all-in-one (part of the DeskJet 2130 series) uses two HP 63 cartridges: one black and one tri-color. The high-yield HP 63XL versions fit too. Castle Ink stocks remanufactured 63XL Black, 63XL Tri-color and a 63XL 2-pack.

The 2132 takes the same ink as the DeskJet 1112 and 3630. Outside the U.S. the same printer uses HP 302 (Europe) or HP 803 (India), which are region-coded and won't work in a U.S. model.

What DeskJet 2132 owners ask

These are the questions that come up most for this printer in HP's support community and owner reviews, answered in our words.

Does the DeskJet 2132 have Wi-Fi?

No. It connects by USB only and doesn't come with a USB cable, so you'll need a standard USB-A to USB-B printer cable.

Why does it say "incompatible cartridge"?

Usually the cartridge is from another region (HP 302 or 803), the wrong number, or not seated. Check for HP 63 on the label, reseat it and wipe the contacts.

It prints blank pages after I refilled a cartridge.

Refilling often leaves air in the sponge or overfills it. Let the cartridge sit nozzle-down on a paper towel for a few minutes, run a cleaning cycle, and consider a remanufactured cartridge instead.

Can I use the new HP 63/65 cartridges?

Staples lists them for the 2132, though HP's own compatibility list doesn't show the 2130 series. HP 63 and 63XL remain the safe choice.

DeskJet 2132 quirks worth knowing

  • HP released the 2130 series in 2015 and lists it as discontinued.
  • HP rates it at 7.5 pages a minute in black and 5.5 in color.
  • It prints, copies and scans with no display; there's no document feeder or automatic two-sided printing.
  • The tray holds 60 sheets, and HP recommends 50 to 100 pages a month.
