What Toner Does the Brother HL-L2320D Take?

Supply Brother part no. Approx. yield Castle Ink option
In-box starter toner — ~700 pages —
Standard toner TN630 ~1,200 pages Compatible TN660 (high yield fits)
High-yield toner TN660 ~2,600 pages Compatible TN660
Drum unit DR630 ~12,000 pages Compatible DR630

Yields are Brother's ISO figures. The drum outlasts four or five TN660 cartridges, so you replace toner far more often than the drum.

Is TN660 Worth It?

Yes. TN660 prints more than twice the pages of TN630 and fits the same slot. On October 14, 2026, Staples listed genuine Brother TN660 at $71.49 (about 2.7¢ a page) and Quill had the genuine DR630 drum at $131.99. Our compatible TN660 is $35.95 (about 1.4¢ a page) and our compatible DR630 is $34.95.

Third-party toner. Brother recommends genuine supplies and says its warranty doesn't cover damage caused by third-party ones; using them doesn't void the warranty by itself. Brother also says the toner status resets only when a brand-new cartridge is installed, which is why a refilled cartridge can leave the toner light on.

How Do I Replace the Toner in the Brother HL-L2320D?

  1. Open the front cover and pull out the drum and toner assembly.
  2. Press down the green lock lever and lift the old toner cartridge out of the drum.
  3. Unpack the new cartridge and push it into the drum until it clicks.
  4. Clean the corona wire by sliding the green tab left and right a few times, then return it to its home position.
  5. Slide the assembly back into the printer and close the front cover.

Which Other Printers Use TN660?

The HL-L2300D, HL-L2340DW, HL-L2360DW, HL-L2380DW, MFC-L2700DW, MFC-L2720DW, MFC-L2740DW and DCP-L2540DW all take TN630/TN660 and the DR630 drum.

What HL-L2320D owners ask

These are the questions that come up most for this printer on retailer Q&A pages, Brother's support pages and owner reviews, answered in our words.

Does it have Wi-Fi?

No. The HL-L2320D connects by USB only, and the USB cable isn't included.

Can I keep printing when the Toner light comes on?

Yes while it's flashing (Toner Low). A solid Toner light with the others off means Replace Toner, and the printer stops printing until you fit a new cartridge.

The Toner light stays on after I put in a new cartridge. Why?

Brother says the toner status resets only when a brand-new cartridge is installed. Reseat the cartridge in the drum until it clicks; a refilled cartridge may not reset the status at all.

How do I reset the Drum light?

Only after fitting a new drum: with the printer on, open the front cover, hold Go for about four seconds until all four lights come on, release, and close the cover. Don't reset it when you change only the toner.

Pages have streaks or a dark line. What helps?

Clean the corona wire with the green tab on the drum. If the marks repeat at the same spot on every page, the drum is usually worn. See laser printer streaks and lines.
