What Ink Does the HP DeskJet 2825e Use?

Quick answer: The HP DeskJet 2825e uses two HP 67 cartridges: one black and one tri-color. The high-yield HP 67XL versions fit too, and so does the extra-high-yield 67XXL black. Castle Ink stocks remanufactured 67XL Black, 67XL Tri-color, 67XXL Black and a 67XL 2-pack.

The 2825e is the Target version of HP's DeskJet 2800e series and takes the same ink as the DeskJet 2827e, 2855e and 2852e. The same model number sold in Europe, Africa and the Middle East takes HP 305 cartridges, which won't fit a U.S. printer.

Yes. HP 67 standard cartridges are tiny, and the box ships with even smaller setup cartridges. How Do I Replace the Ink in the HP DeskJet 2825e?

  2. Open the cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to move to the center and stop.
  3. Press down on the old cartridge to release it and pull it out.

What DeskJet 2825e owners ask

These are the questions that come up most for this printer in HP's support community and owner reviews, answered in our words.

What does the e0 error mean?

It's a cartridge error. Unplug the printer for 60 seconds, clean the cartridge and carriage contacts with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water, and reseat. Counterfeit 'HP' cartridges have caused it too.

It says 'incompatible cartridge' even with the cartridges that came in the box.

Make sure all the tape is off and each cartridge is in its own slot, then update the firmware and restart. If that fails, HP may need to service the printer.

Can I use remanufactured cartridges?

Yes, if they keep an original HP chip, like ours, and you didn't turn on HP+ during setup. HP+ locks the printer to Original HP ink.

Will it print with the color cartridge empty?

Consumer Reports found it keeps printing when color runs out.
