What Ink Does the Epson Expression Home XP-410 Use?

Quick answer: The Epson Expression Home XP-410 Small-in-One uses four separate Epson 200 or high-capacity Epson 200XL cartridges: black, cyan, magenta and yellow. Castle Ink stocks remanufactured 200XL Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow, or all of them in a 200XL 5-pack with two blacks.

The XP-410 takes the same Epson 200 cartridges as the XP-310 and XP-400. Epson 200 is a U.S. number; the European versions of these printers use Epson 18 "Daisy" cartridges, which won't work in a U.S. model.

Discontinued. Epson no longer sells the XP-410 and names the Expression Home XP-4200, which takes different ink, as its replacement. Epson 200 cartridges are still sold.

What Ink Cartridges Does the Epson XP-410 Take?

Cartridge Epson part no. (standard / XL) Approx. yield (standard / XL) Castle Ink option
Epson 200 Black T200120 / T200XL120 ~175 / ~500 pages Remanufactured 200XL Black

Epson 200 is DURABrite Ultra pigment ink, so text resists smudging and water better than dye ink. Epson also sells a T200XL-BCS pack (XL black plus standard colors) and an all-XL T200XL-XCS pack. Don't confuse 200 with Epson 220: they look similar but fit different printers.

Is Epson 200XL Worth It?

Yes, if you print more than a few pages a month. On October 14, 2026, Staples listed Original Epson 200XL black (T200XL120-S) at $34.59 (about 6.9¢ a page) and each XL color at $19.59, or $93.39 for an all-XL four-pack. Our remanufactured 200XL cartridges are $9.95 each (about 2¢ a page for black), or $47.95 for the 5-pack with two blacks.

How Do I Replace the Ink in the Epson XP-410?

  1. Turn the printer on. On the touch panel, open Setup, then Maintenance, then Ink Cartridge Replacement.
  2. Lift the scanner unit; the cartridge holder moves to the replacement position.
  3. Squeeze the tab on the empty cartridge and lift it straight out.
  4. Shake the new cartridge gently, remove the yellow tape, and press it down into its slot until it clicks.
  5. Lower the scanner unit and press Start so the printer can charge the ink. Don't turn it off while it does.

Which Other Printers Use Epson 200?

The Expression Home XP-310, XP-400, XP-200 and XP-300, and the WorkForce WF-2520, WF-2530 and WF-2540.

What XP-410 owners ask

These are the questions that come up most for this printer in Epson's owner reviews, its support pages and printer forums, answered in our words.

Will it print black if a color cartridge is empty?

Usually not. Epson printers stop when any cartridge is expended. Some Epson models let Windows users print plain-paper text with black for a short time, but the fix is to replace the empty color.

Why does it say the cartridge can't be recognized?

Reseat the cartridge firmly, check the tape is fully off and wipe the chip contacts with a dry lint-free cloth. Make sure it's a 200 or 200XL, not a 220. If a third-party cartridge is still refused, a firmware update may be the cause.

It says parts inside have reached the end of their service life. What now?

That message means the waste ink pads are full. Epson says they aren't user-replaceable; contact Epson about service, or weigh the cost against a newer printer.

Prints have lines or missing colors. Is the cartridge bad?

Usually the nozzles are clogged. Run a nozzle check, then one or two head cleanings, and print again before replacing anything. Repeated cleanings use a lot of ink.

Can I use cartridges bought in Europe?

No. European XP-series printers use Epson 18 cartridges, which are region-coded.

  • It prints, copies and scans, with a 2.5-inch touch panel and memory card slots; two-sided printing is manual.
