Quick answer: The Epson Stylus NX125 uses four Epson 125 standard cartridges: black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The smaller, moderate-capacity Epson 124 cartridges fit too. Castle Ink stocks remanufactured Epson 125 Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow, plus a 4-pack.

The NX125 takes the same ink as the Wi-Fi Stylus NX420W and other Stylus and WorkForce models of the same era. Epson 69 and 88 cartridges look similar but don't fit it. Epson Australia also sold an NX125, but we couldn't confirm its cartridge numbers, so buy cartridges sold for the U.S. or Canada.

Is Epson 125 Worth It Over 124?

Yes. Epson 125 holds about twice the ink of the moderate-capacity 124. On October 24, 2026, Staples listed Epson's 125 black at $18.79 (out of stock), about 4.9¢ a page, and Walmart had Epson's 125 color 3-pack at $42.29. Epson's own store had the 124 black at $15.29 for only about 190 pages, roughly 8¢ a page, and each 124 color at $10.49. Our remanufactured Epson 125 cartridges are $8.95 each, about 2.3¢ a page for black, and the 4-pack is $32.95.

How Do I Replace the Ink in the Epson Stylus NX125?

With the printer on, lift the scanner unit and open the cartridge cover.
Press the Stop (ink) button. The print head moves to the replacement position, or to the empty cartridge.
Squeeze the tab on the old cartridge and lift it straight out.
Shake the new package four or five times, unpack it, remove only the yellow tape without touching the green chip, and press it in until it clicks.
Close the cartridge cover and scanner and press Stop. Ink charging takes about a minute and a half; don't turn the printer off.

Which Other Printers Use Epson 125 and 124?

Yes. Epson's NX125 page lists both. Epson 124 is moderate capacity, about 190 black or 175 color pages, against about 385 for Epson 125.

It still says the new cartridge is expended.

Press Stop to move the head to the replacement position, push each cartridge down until it clicks and check for leftover yellow tape. Then press Stop and wait about a minute and a half while the ink charges.

Does it have Wi-Fi?

Not that we could find. It connects over USB. The NX420W is the Wi-Fi model in this ink family.

Why didn't a USB cable come with it?

Epson didn't include one. Any standard USB A-to-B printer cable works.
