What Ink Does the Epson WorkForce 610 Use?
Last Updated:Quick answer: The Epson WorkForce 610 uses four Epson 69 cartridges: black, cyan, magenta and yellow. It also takes the high-capacity Epson 68 and the extra-high-capacity Epson 97 black, though Epson no longer sells either. Castle Ink stocks remanufactured Epson 69 Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow, a 5-pack and a high-capacity Epson 68 Black.
The WorkForce 610 shares Epson 69 with many Stylus and WorkForce models from 2008 to 2011, including the Stylus NX110. Epson 88 cartridges look similar but don't fit this printer.

Is High-Capacity Ink Worth It?
It would be, but Epson no longer sells it. On October 15, 2026, Staples listed Epson's 69 black at $21.39 (about 8.7¢ a page), each 69 color at $17.99 and a color three-pack at $49.49. Our remanufactured 69 cartridges are $7.95 each (about 3.2¢ a page for black), the 5-pack is $34.95 and the 8-pack $59.95. Our Epson 68 Black is also $7.95 and holds more.
How Do I Replace the Ink in the Epson WorkForce 610?
- Turn the printer on. On the screen choose Replace Now, or go to Home, Setup, Maintenance, then Ink Cartridge Replacement.
- With the document feeder cover closed, lift the scanner unit and open the cartridge cover.
- Squeeze the tab on the old cartridge and lift it straight out.
- Shake the new cartridge's package four or five times, unpack it, peel off only the yellow tape and press it in until it clicks.
- Close the cartridge cover and scanner, press OK and leave the printer on for about two minutes while the ink charges.

What WorkForce 610 owners ask
These are the questions that come up most for this printer in Epson's support pages, retailer reviews and owner forums, answered in our words.
Does it print two-sided automatically?
No. Two-sided printing is manual, and the 30-sheet document feeder scans one side only.
Which ink should I buy now?
Epson 69 is the only Epson-brand ink still sold new for it. Epson 68 high-capacity and 97 extra-high black are discontinued at Epson, though remanufactured 68 black is still available.
Why won't it fax or print when one color is empty?
The WorkForce 610 stops printing, copying and receiving faxes until every cartridge has ink. Replace the empty one first.
I replaced a cartridge but it still says it's expended.
Press all four cartridges down firmly until they click, close the covers and press OK.
WorkForce 610 quirks worth knowing
