What Ink Does the Epson WorkForce WF-2660 Use?
Last Updated:Quick answer: The Epson WorkForce WF-2660 uses four Epson 220 cartridges: black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The high-capacity Epson 220XL versions fit too. Castle Ink stocks remanufactured 220XL Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow.
The WF-2660 takes the same ink as the WorkForce WF-2650, WF-2630, WF-2750 and WF-2760. In Europe the WF-2660DWF takes Epson 16 cartridges, which won't fit a U.S. printer, and Epson says the U.S. model won't recognize other numbers such as Epson 200 or 252.

Yields are Epson's figures for its 220 and 220XL cartridges.
Is 220XL Worth It?
Yes. A 220XL holds nearly three times the ink of a standard 220, and Digital Trends' main complaint about this printer was the low yield of the standard cartridges. On October 16, 2026, Quill (a Staples company) listed Epson's 220XL black at $40.99 (about 8.2¢ a page) and Staples had the 220XL cyan at $18.69. Our remanufactured 220XL cartridges are $8.95 each, which works out to about 1.8¢ a page for black.
How Do I Replace the Ink in the Epson WF-2660?
- Turn the printer on. Follow the prompt if the screen reports an expended cartridge, or go to Setup, Maintenance, then Ink Cartridge Replacement.
- Lift the scanner unit. The print head moves to the replacement position.
- Squeeze the tab on the old cartridge and lift it straight out.
- Gently shake the new cartridge, unpack it and remove only the yellow tape, without touching the green chip. Press it into its slot until it clicks.
- Close the scanner unit and wait for the ink to finish priming. Don't turn the printer off while it primes.
Which Other Printers Use Epson 220?
The Expression Home XP-220, XP-320, XP-324, XP-420 and XP-424, and the WorkForce WF-2630, WF-2650, WF-2750 and WF-2760.
What WF-2660 owners ask
These are the questions that come up most for this printer in Epson's support pages, retailer reviews and owner forums, answered in our words.
It says it cannot recognize the ink cartridge.
Turn the printer off and unplug it for about five minutes. Reseat the cartridge until it clicks, wipe the chip contacts and check that it's a 220 or 220XL. If it still fails, try a different cartridge.
The Wi-Fi keeps dropping or won't set up.
TechRadar found the connectivity inconsistent and setup tricky. Re-run Wi-Fi setup from the touchscreen, or connect by USB or Ethernet instead.
Does it scan both sides automatically?
No. It prints two-sided automatically, but the 30-sheet document feeder scans one side only.
Will Epson 200 or 252 cartridges fit?
No. Epson's support says the WF-2660 recognizes only 220 and 220XL cartridges.
WF-2660 quirks worth knowing
- Epson rates it at 13 ISO pages a minute in black and 7.3 in color, or 6.5 and 4.5 when printing two-sided.
- It has a 2.7-inch color touchscreen, but Digital Trends found it takes taps only, not swipes.
- There's one 150-sheet paper tray, which holds up to 10 envelopes or 20 photo sheets.
- It connects over Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Ethernet, USB or NFC tap-to-print, but it has no memory card reader.
